The Fédération Internationale des Podologues (FIP) held its Annual General Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark - the cite of the XIX World Congress of Podiatry. Representatives from all FIP member countries were in attendance save that of Mexico. Delegates to the meeting voted on a number of important issues:

  • Robert Chelin, D.P.M., former Vice President of FIP and President of the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association, was elected President.
  • Elected to Vice President was Marc Bourgeois, Ph.D., former FIP General Secretary. Dr. Bourgeois is President of the Belgium Association of Podiatrists.
  • Elected as Secretary was Mette Palmer of the Swedish Podiatry Association.
  • Re-elected as Treasurer was Philippe Laurent, of the Fédération Nationale de France.
  • Joseph M. Caporusso, D.P.M., and member of the Board of Directors, American Podiatric Medical Association/USA, was elected to the newly created Member-at-Large position of the Board.
  • Paul Shenton, out-going President of FIP and from the U.K. will remain on the FIP Exeucutive Board until May 2008.

Philippe Laurent reported to the assembly that FIP was now reserving funds each year from operations and had completed the FY'06 FY with substantial savings.

New members of FIP's Coporate Advisory Board (CAB) were introduced to the assembly while the Chairman of the CAB reported on the continued interest and support of the CAB members for FIP and its future activities.

Mr. McNevin, special consultant to the FIP Board, reported on the work completed by the International Education and Research Committee and plans for a most successful Consensus Conference to be held as part of the World Congress.
