The FIP Seal of Acceptance/Approval Program recognizes products that are beneficial to foot health and of significant value when used in a consistently applied program of daily foot care and regular professional treatment. The FIP initiated its Seal of Acceptance/Approval program in 2008. It includes two components: - Seal of Acceptance - this program evaluates footwear, materials, insoles, hosiery and equipment.
- Seal of Approval - this program evaluates the use of therapeutic products and their adjuncts.
A Seal is awarded to a product after it has been scrupulously reviewed by a committee of expert podiatrists who have determined that the product/products promote quality foot health.
The Seal is awarded to a product after the FIP Seal of Approval Committee evaluates and determines whether the product promotes quality foot health. If you have questions or would like to request a copy of the Seal guidelines please contact Jayne Jeneroux, Director of Corporate Development and Communications (insert email address) Application Process
To obtain a Seal of Acceptance or Approval a company submits an application for each product along with samples for committee's evaluation. The application includes information about the original trade package items produced to be marketed for each submission; required documentary evidence regarding composition, both physical and chemical properties; evidence of safety and efficacy; quality control systems utilized by the manufacturer; all labeling, package inserts, advertising, and promotional materials; and objective data from clinical and/or laboratory studies that support any claims made about the product. Although some products are rejected if a product does not promote good foot health, those companies awarded a Seal are approved to use the Seal for a period of three years. program details.
